What's a laugh got to do with it?
You'd have thought that the strait-laced world of Politics and Fancy Dress would not have much in common, .but occasionally to two collide,. In this country this usually involves would-be politicians being hassled by tabloid-sponsored people in chicken suits at the hustings during General Elections. Today, on International Women's Day (though that may be irrelevant in this context, aside from the fact that the media tend to feature more female-based stories) comes news that an Australian MP recently attended Parliament dressed as Tina Turner. She had been dared to do it as part of a fund-raising campaign to raise A$ 10,000 (£56,000).
Perhaps we could do with a little more of that sort of thing here.
